The following is an ARTline interview with Nathalie Nehme and Said Halawi, Co-founders of Glasscape Creations, brought to you by Fine Line Production.

Based in Beirut, Lebanon, this project that started as a DIY for a plant for the house, soon turned into a small business where Said and Nathalie are marketing their pieces under the name Glasscape Creations. Glasscape Creations began as a DIY project, when Nathalie Nehme and Said Halawi found a picture of a terrarium on Pinterest, while looking for a plant to put in the house. They started browsing around shops in Beirut, and they found that they could custom make it themselves at home.

Friends of Nathalie and Said’s fell in love with the idea immediately, and started asking them to make them pieces that they would gift for valentine’s day or other occasions.

Based in Beirut, Lebanon, this project that started as a DIY for a plant for the house, soon turned into a Facebook page and an Instagram account where Said and Nathalie started marketing their pieces under the name Glasscape Creations.

Soon enough, they started receiving orders for bulk projects, such as a project that they worked on for 190 pieces as end-of-year corporate gifts.

The process of creating a terrarium begins by choosing the shape and size of the terrarium, based on the client’s budget, and the space in which that terrarium will be placed. The second stage is choosing the appropriate plants for that terrarium, also based on the client’s taste in color and the environment in which the plant will live in, taking into consideration the humidity and lighting conditions of the place.

Said and Nathalie say that working with plants is a comforting process, especially for them living in the city of Beirut, it feels to them that this process brings them closer to nature.
